Trusted craftsman for restoration of centuries old instruments, recent projects include total restorations of a Prescott bass, 1800's European "bootneck" and an early Juzek bass.

Highly experienced craftsman, three decades apprenticeship with master luthier Lou DiLeone of Orange, Connecticut.

Dedicated to maximizing your performance potential while retaining the historical value of the instrument.

Contact mail@mikeasetta.com or call at  860-685-1621 for information about set-up, adjustments, and seam repairs to complete overhauls and restorations of your double bass, violin, cello, or viola.

Mike Asetta is the only authorized user of Lou DiLeone's “Sound Post Indicator,” a tool for measuring the correct tension of a sound post.  Lou DiLeone pictured above consulting on a bass repair.
Mike cares for each bass as if he would be playing it himself, and repairs each instrument to withstand the heavy travel schedule to which his own instruments are accustomed.

Continually researching and upgrading his skill and knowledge, on recent travels to the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, and Austria he met with a number of the world's finest luthiers and double bass specialists. Mike also returned with spruce and maple from the Alps for new tops, new double basses, and bass repairs.
